This large format leaflet for Thames Launch Works is here on the online archive thanks to David Tod of Anstruther. Thames Launch Works, which was based on Eel Pie Island in Twickenham, built a 40″ steel hulled fishing vessel, the Gleaner CN 284, for Campbeltown Skipper, Cecil Finn. Thames Launch Works started operating in Campbeltown, working on boat repairs on the Old Quay before building Campbeltown Thames Shipyard at Trench Point in 1969. The yard would later become Campbeltown Shipyard Ltd when Lithgows and HIDB (Highlands and Islands Development Board) came on board.
“40ft fishing boat “Gleaner” in use in Scotland. This is a combined Seine net and trawler of unusual design with a 1100 cu. ft. hold capacity. Sleeping accommodation for four and a Kort steering nozzle”.
