We are very grateful to Ian Gourlay for sharing these photos of the Radiant Star FR 73. This special boat is almost 50 years old and was built at Campbeltown Shipyard in 1970 as the St Adrian KY 245 (Yard No. 002) for Anstruther skipper, David Tod, who also worked at the yard during her construction, and designed many of her innovative features.
I am originally from Cellardyke and I know the Tod Family well. When I left the school in 1992, for a life of a fisherman, I fished alongside the boat when she was called “Euphemia”, owned by Robert Christie from Pittenweem.

These photos were taken in Peterhead this week (October 2019) and Ian says it’s likely that Radiant Star is on the slip getting anodes replaced and anti-fouling work done.
You can view David Tod’s photos of St Adrian at the time of her launch and sea trials in Campbeltown here and another collection of David’s photos of her here, fishing on the east coast. There is also an article about her launch in the Campbeltown Courier.
