This menu card made for a dinner to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Campbeltown Shipyard lists all the boats built up until that year (1979) from the Crimson Arrow CN30 (Yard no. 1) to the Spes Melior PD397 (Yard No. 047).
We’re trying to decipher the signatures… so far we have David Tod, Skipper of St Adrian KY 245, Chris Middleton, who worked for J.P. Johnstone, fish sellers, Peterhead, Austin Reilly, who worked as an economist for Lithgows, and who apparently went on to have a hand in the new Hampden Stadium project. Robert Smith is the brother of David Smith, who commissioned the Argonaut IV. More to follow…
